Honeywell International-Quality Assurance Laboratory

Project Description

Architectural Excellence

Art’s Way Scientific was selected by Honeywell International Inc. to provide a 963.5 GSF facility, analytical quality assurance laboratory. This facility consists of over 80 linear feet of upper and lower laboratory casework, stainless steel countertops and sinks, MEP emergency shower, and office space. The building had to meet a variety of codes and standards including stringent specifications directed by the owner. The building is constructed using structurally insulated panels with a seamless, anti-bacterial fiberglass reinforced epoxy coating system, epoxy flooring and steel doors.

Technical Innovation & Sustainability

This facility meets the critical use requirements by the design and factory installation of the laboratory casework, ceiling mounted extraction arms, laboratory fume hoods and glove boxes. Incorporated in the design was space and utilities for other owner supplied equipment. The building includes all required gas manifolds and piping systems. The exterior mechanical skid consists of a structural steel vibration controlled support frame holding a 20-ton Aaon air handler. Placement of the air handler allows full access for easy service and maintenance. The HVAC was completed with a dual compressor, electric heating coil, supply fan, galvanized ductwork and stainless steel exhaust system with a custom bulkhead designed to allow this unit to incorporate and tie into the main building automation and control system.

Project & Cost Effectiveness

The requirements set by the owner for contractor qualification, safety, security, ability and cost for this project were met by Art’s Way Scientific using our knowledge and experience. In partnering with the stakeholders and our design alliances, we were able to provide a turn key facility capable of the critical testing performed. With limited space for expansion on a tightly secured and monitored site, the maximization of space while maintaining budget was key to a successful project.
